Where Does It Go (Chubby Legs) 2021 Edit Wav
This is a great song by Big Sleep. Tony wrote the lyrics. I played all the instruments. The 'arrangement' was a combined effort...although Tony had almost all of the song part of it pretty much in his head right from the off.
Big Sleep is the name of the imaginary 'band/group, that all the music I create with my friend and musical collaborator, Tony Webster goes under. Tony is pictured on the right in the photo; me on the left in the dark blue suit.
Tony is an artist / illustrator, writer of lyrics and stories, song arranger and a mine of information on any subject under the sun . . .
I (David A Briggs) play all the instruments (mostly of the stringed variety), perform all the studio 'jiggery-pokery', sing and dabble a little in the visual arts.
Story behind the song
This is a 2021 re-edit, where I've tried my best to make this song sound as good as I can. The original mp3 recording was sounding a bit tired and dull. With modern technology, I've brightened it up as much as I dare without taking away too much off the original's immediacy and excitement.
Tony pretty much had this all mapped out in his head before our recording session. Obviously there were a few musical tweaks to find the right set of chords that suited our harmonising voices.
So we probably changed the original key of the song that was in Tony's head.
We wanted this to appear to be the first song from a 'Show /concert', featuring Big Sleep...our band.
The guitar solos still amaze me...yep, that was me, when I was prepared to go off on one!
Suck on that one Bill Nelson...ha ha...
I remember finishing the last solo and thinking..."bloody hell, that was something".
Just for a bit of extra info...I used a Yamaha MSG Deluxe guitar.
Lyrics
Where Does It Go (Chubby Legs) Webster / Briggs
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to tonight's show.
Chubby Legs in a mini-skirt, big chests in a too tight tee-shirt
High heels that look like stilts, bondage trousers and tartan kilts.
Bomber jackets with tassels and frills, but they're gone...
Lovely girls with pony tails, drainpipe trousers never fails,
Brylcreme screams on his head, velvet collars fill me with dread
how I wish that they were dead, now it's gone.
Blokes are wearing eye shadow, girls are Goths, they're in the know,
Now everything's on show, nothing hidden down below,
things are fast and never slow, then they go...
Where does it go...where does it go...where does it go...
when it waits to come around again...
Where does it go...where does it go...where does it go...
when it waits to come around again...
1st. guitar solo...
Boys are stomping in big boots, wearing braces to show their roots,
We all have Northern Soul, we need it to keep us whole,
never worry 'bout paying the toll, 'til it goes...
Never mind what they say, out of date by yesterday, hey, hey,
what trainers should I wear, what's the best style for my hair,
should by pant be straight or flaired, but then it's gone...
Where does it go...where does it go...where does it go...
when it waits to come around again...
Where does it go...where does it go...where does it go...
when it waits to come around again...
2nd. guitar solo:
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to tonight's show
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to tonight's show
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to tonight's show ...
Always loved these little glimpses into life's idiosyncrasies that you & Tony do so well. Great lyrics, guitar & vibe - a sure radio hit.
